Glass Bangles Artefact- Salmon Cover
Glass Bangles Artefact- Salmon Cover
Description
Description
Crafted in Firozabad, India — a city renowned for its centuries-old glassmaking — these bangles are made entirely by hand from recycled glass bottles. The process involves multiple stages, from melting and shaping to glazing, each requiring the skill and precision of master artisans. Traditionally, glass bangles hold deep cultural and spiritual significance in India, believed to ward off evil and bring protection.
For this piece, we have wrapped the bangles in our signature hand-crocheted cover, created by our all-women team in the Himalayas. The cover can serve both as a base for display and as a decorative layer, softening the form and creating a dialogue between the rigid fragility of glass and the gentle tactility of crochet.
A one-of-one collectible — merging two distinct craft traditions into a singular object, part of our ongoing research into bangles through installations and sculptural works.
